My New Home Awaits

In less than five months, I’m leaving the Czech Republic. Although I’m flying home to the U.S., that’s only a pit-stop before my next international adventure…

I’m going to get my master’s at the University of Stirling in Scotland.

I’ve been wanting to attend postgraduate university (aka “grad school” in American English) since before my undergraduate studies. It wasn’t until this past summer that I felt certain about what to study: public relations and communications. Living abroad really informed my decision. My current circumstances have allowed me to self-reflect and identify my goals without being rushed.

You might ask, why not go back home to study? Well, despite the temptation, I just don’t feel ready. What’s more, I think the cultural and personal experiences that I’ll gain by continuing to live abroad align with my goals. Then, of course, there’s the fact that I’m slightly obsessed with Scotland. (That’s thanks to Outlander and my friend Amanda for hosting me in three times in the last year.)

Although my love for Scotland encouraged me to look for programs in the UK, it was serendipity that I found the right one. The University of Stirling welcomes inquisitive minds so I think that I’ll feel right at home. Heck, I love learning. I’ve been wanting to be a student again for quite some time now. To say that I’m looking forward to my postgraduate education and life in Scotland is an understatement. I simply can’t wait.

  1. I totally understand you, you’ll experience so many things on living abroad that it will be better for you (personally and for your CV) living and studying abroad than returning directly home 🙂 in the last 10 years i’ve done it ahah from studying to volunteering, i’ve lived in 6 different cities around the world 🙂 greetings from Portugal, PedroL
